Environment and Climate Change Canada has posted special weather statements for high elevation travel routes, including the Coquihalla Highway, Okanagan Connector, Hope-Princeton Highway, and Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

The federal weather agency says snow levels will remain at or below mountain pass levels in southern BC on the weekend, while rain will soak the Interior region.

Snow over highway passes is expected to be generally light, the agency said, however, it warned there is a potential for Kootenay Pass to receive more than 15 centimeters of snow Saturday night through Sunday.

The agency says drivers should be prepared for changing travel conditions, as the weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
