“The health and safety of the local community, venue sponsors and the organization’s staff and players is Senators Sports & Entertainment’s top priority,” the club said in its statement.
Rescheduling will not be easy for the league and many wondered what the threshold for procrastination was. The schedule is compressed because the NHL wants players to attend the Beijing Olympics. The concern now is if this issue starts to creep into the league, then it’s quite possible that other teams could be eliminated.
The NHL reserves the right to withdraw from Olympic participation if there are too many games rescheduled.
