A 49-year-old motorcyclist was thrown from his bicycle after losing control of the vehicle on Tourangeau Road and Alice Street on the afternoon of June 24.

The collision resulted in a broken pelvis, a broken toe, and other injuries to the motorcyclist.

In a statement last week, SIU Director Joseph Martino said the motorcyclist was attempting to flee from an officer in a Ford Explorer without Windsor police identification at the time of the incident.

Investigators learned that the officer had first observed the 2003 Suzuki motorcycle traveling on the EC Row Expressway with a rear license plate that appeared to be improperly mounted.

The officer followed the motorcycle onto Central Avenue and finally Tourangeau Road, where the officer activated the truck’s hazard lights and siren to make the motorcyclist stop.
