Officers first responded to a Church St. residence around 11:30 p.m. to receive reports of a 34-year-old man armed with a pistol.

When authorities arrived, the man had barricaded himself in the unit.

Police found the man in medical distress upon entering the unit and he died shortly thereafter.

In the second instance, Toronto Police responded to a residence in Castledene Cres. in Scarborough that same night around 7:27 pm for an unknown trouble call.

A police negotiator contacted the man, who reportedly suffered a serious injury and received first aid until paramedics arrived.

The man was taken to the hospital where he died.
