SINTTIA will call a strike at the General Motors plant in Silao

In General Motors there is a long process to agree on the signing of collective labor agreement at the Silao plant, Guanajuato; Despite having a union elected by the workers, “the company ignored the call to strike presented by the National Independent Union of Workers of the Automotive Industry (SYNTHIA) and was archived by the Labor Court of Collective Affairs”, said Alejandra Morales, general secretary.

However, the union organization will present, again, this Wednesday the strike call expiring on May 31, in order to guarantee that the company sits down to negotiate the signing of the new collective bargaining agreement, which was dissolved in November 2021.

The general secretary explained that the actions that the company has taken, “seek to delay the signing of the contract for which we have six months – validity of the Certificate of Representation of the union organization – which could affect the making of agreements.”

It should be remembered that in August the contract legitimation process was carried out in which the “Miguel Trujillo” union of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CTM), who represented the more than 6,000 workers.

Alejandra Morales said that “unfortunately the company refuses to understand the important legal changes that have occurred in the country and that now it has an authentic union in front of it, determined to have an effective collective bargaining for a collective bargaining agreement that contains better salary conditions and worked”.

He added that the attitude in General Motors “The situation only fuels the annoyance generated by the abuses experienced in the plant among the workers, SYNTHIA continues to invite the company to put aside legal tricks and have a responsible and transparent dialogue with the intention of reaching the necessary support for the signing of a collective agreement for the benefit of both parties”.
