Motorists are warned that heavy snow is expected to cover the southern mountain passes of the interior this weekend.

“A winter storm moving through British Columbia will begin to dump snow on roads over southern British Columbia beginning Saturday afternoon,” Environment Canada said in a special weather statement.

“The snow will continue through Sunday and begin to ease early Monday morning.”

Environment Canada’s special meteorological statement indicated 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected for Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass and Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt, and the Trans- Canada from Eagle Pass to Rogers. Pass.
