Sharon Bowen was named Monday as president of the board of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Bowen, who has a three-decade career as a partner in law studies among other positions, was already on the board of the NYSE and from its parent company, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
ICE announced other changes among its leaders, including the departure of the president of the NYSE, Stacey Cunningham, who ran the New York Stock Exchange since 2018. It will be replaced by Lynn Martin, current president of the division “Fixed rate obligations and data service”, who will also be a member of the board of directors.
With 2,400 publicly traded companies and a cumulative capitalization of $ 36 billion, the NYSE is the world’s largest stock exchange.
I’m thrilled to see my colleague and friend, Sharon Bowen named the next Chair of the @NYSE board of directors. Honored to serve with an extraordinary leader who will also be the first woman and first Black person to Chair the New York Stock Exchange. pic.twitter.com/tPQKVCcOAp
