Sharjah receives the post as guest country of FIL Guadalajara 2022

On the afternoon of this Sunday, the courier change ceremony was held at the FIL Come in Peru, country Guest of Honor 2021, and the emirate of Sharjah, which will occupy that distinguished space in next year’s edition. They were present Manuel Talavera Espinar, Ambassador of Peru in Mexico and Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, as well as fair authorities.

The ambassador of the South American country gave the Emirati representative two identity gifts of Peruvian culture: an Ayacucho altarpiece and a Sarhua panel, two instruments used to tell stories throughout Peruvian history. “We are going to deliver these instruments that serve to tell stories to Sharjah and we are doing it in Guadalajara, a place that has become the place where stories are exchanged.”

For its part, Sharjah gave Peru a set of coffee, the symbol of Emirati hospitality. “We celebrate, for the second time, by Peru the honor of receiving the title of Guest of Honor at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (…) Even though there are two continents that separate us, we are closer than we can imagine, ”said Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri.
