Several musicians cancel performances after the band Bombargo announced that they will play at Coors Event Center | The Canadian News

Several artists canceled shows in Saskatoon in light of a controversial band that will perform next month.

The Bombargo band will perform at the Coors Event Center in Saskatoon on October 8.

In March, a woman alleged that she and two other models, one she said was a minor at the time, experienced sexual and degrading behavior while filming a 2016 music video with the band.

The gang has filed a lawsuit against him, saying the allegations are false and asking for nearly $ 800,000 in damages.

However, Saskatoon singer-songwriter Velours said that she and her band withdrew due to concerns about the situation.

“We all agreed that it just wouldn’t have felt good to perform on the spot,” he said.

Meanwhile, in an email to Global News, Bombargo said: “It is unfortunate that falsehoods have not only harmed Bombargo, but also influenced other artists’ decision to perform.

“The many comments and rejections that result from our attempt to advance as a band sadden us and show how necessary our libel case is, and for the truth to be known.”

The band said they are looking forward to the planned October show and noted a July statement regarding the situation surrounding the allegations and the ongoing lawsuit.

Velours said the Coors Event Center can choose to allow as many artists as it wants in its space.

“Go ahead, but I won’t be performing there,” he said.

“It’s a choice, but I made my own and most of the people in the community have clearly chosen it as well.”

Velours said she and a few other artists are planning a show on the same night as Bombargo’s performance. She said details are still in the works.
