Selwyn Township Man Charged With Drug Driving After Collision: Peterborough County OPP – Peterborough | The Canadian News

A Selwyn Township man faces drug driving charges following an accident over Thanksgiving weekend.

According to the Peterborough County OPP, around 8 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a single-vehicle accident on Hilliard Street, north of Peterborough in Selwyn Township. The complainant reported that a vehicle had run off the road and hit a tree. No injuries were reported.

OPP determined that the driver was under the influence of drugs.

Mark Johnston, 35, of Selwyn Township, Ontario, was arrested and charged with operation while intoxicated (alcohol and drugs) and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Johnston was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Peterborough on November 24, the OPP said Tuesday.

On October 8 at around 5:45 pm OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road 4 in Douro-Dummer Township. No injuries were reported, but one of the drivers was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

Malcolm Macduff, 27, of Flamborough Township, was arrested and charged with two counts of drunk driving (blood alcohol concentration of 80 or higher and alcohol and drugs).

The defendant had his driver’s license suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.

He was released and will appear in Peterborough court on November 17.
