Sedena executes operations in Aguililla, Buenavista, Coalcomán and Tepalcatepec to restore peace in Michoacán


The Mexican Army reported that it reinforced its presence in 43 locations in Michoacán, with the aim of ensuring the rule of law.

“Transit and social peace were restored, and the rule of law was strengthened in 43 localities located in the municipalities of Aguililla, Buenavista, Coalcomán and Tepalcatepec, Michoacán, as well as the conditions that allow the inhabitants to return to their homes and that the agricultural products of that area can be harvested and marketed”, informed the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena).

In the operations, with which three routes considered priority were released, such as Aguililla-El Aguaje, El Aguaje-Los Cajones-El Limón and Coalcomán-Aguililla, 15 packages of marijuana, six long weapons, 11 magazines for different weapons, were seized. four chests, 1,138 cartridges of different calibers, 23 improvised explosive devices, 21 vehicles, 15 of various characteristics, three with handmade armor, one with agency armor, a motorcycle and a tractor, and various tactical equipment.

“The intelligence activities and the presence of the authority made it possible to determine that the conditions existed to carry out the third phase of the designed strategy. Initially, the liberation of roads and localities in rural areas was carried out without affecting the civilian population, avoiding confrontation with the social base of the criminal organizations that exerted pressure on the inhabitants. Subsequently, units of paratroopers, special forces and infantry from the Mexican Army, with personnel from the National Guard and the Michoacán Police, organized in three groups, entered the municipal seat of Aguililla, Michoacán from different itineraries,” the Army said.

The operations were carried out in collaboration with elements of the National Guard and the state police of Michoacán.
