Saskatoon Transit Is Free To Residents On Election Day In Canada – Saskatoon | The Canadian News

Saskatoon residents can ride all bus routes for free on Federal Election Day.

The city of Saskatoon said it is to help lower transportation barriers to the polls, which are open from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm on Sept. 20.

For free Saskatoon Transit service, passengers must show a pass to the bus operator on their mobile phone or physically. Passes can be found online or be picked up at the transit customer service center, any public library, city hall, or civic leisure center.

Free passes are valid on fixed routes, on-demand transit and Access Transit throughout the day and can be used multiple times on all routes before they expire at the end of service on September 20.

The city will also close early at 4:30 pm so employees have the regular time to vote in elections.

Canada’s Elections Act states that employers must allow employees three consecutive hours to cast their votes, read the city’s press release on Friday.
