Saskatoon Light and Power Worker Assaulted at Work | The Canadian News

John Lynch was at his Saskatoon home Tuesday morning when he said he witnessed a completely random act of violence.

“I was looking out the window and I realized the aftermath,” Lynch said. “A guy walked up to the hydroelectric worker and punched him in the face.”

He ran to the city workers on the street in front of his house and asked them what had happened. One of the employees was holding a handkerchief to his bleeding nose.

The victim told him that the assault was not provoked at all.

“[He said] like two words and bang, ”Lynch said. “It all happened so fast. They didn’t see if he was walking down the street or walking down the street, or where he had gone next.”

A spokesman for the city of Saskatoon gave his version in a statement to Global News:

“Before lunchtime on Tuesday, a Saskatoon Light & Power employee working on the ground in the Witney Avenue and Bedford Road area reported that he was approached by an individual unknown to him and that this individual subsequently struck him in the street. face”.

The spokesperson added that the employee has received treatment and is back at work. The investigation is now in the hands of the Saskatoon police.

In a statement to Global News, the SPS said: “Patrol officers searched the area around the assault, but did not locate the suspect.”

The police spokesman said his only hope in this investigation is for someone with information to come forward.

Lynch says her street generally sees no violence of any kind and hopes whoever the random assailant was brought to justice.
