The strike began at 5 am and aims to accelerate the pace of contract negotiations that continue despite the strike.

Union spokesman Michel Gratton said he had been informed that management was prepared to return to the negotiating table Tuesday with “substantial offers” but that the strike would continue in the meantime.

Warehouse and distribution workers went on a one-day strike on November 16. SAQ outlets will remain open, as store employees are represented by a different union. The strike could disrupt the supply chain for some stores if the strike continues.

The entire contract is being negotiated, including the issues of wages, job security, overtime and group insurance.
