El rio what lasts a lot of years a cloaca in the metropolitan area of Barcelona it is every time he seeks to recover everything he has committed the human intervention. 22 years ago, Besós recovered as green infrastructure, with the march off the fluvial park, but now a new point of inflection is alive. This year he initiated them renaturalization works on the tram of Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona). The objective is to increase its biodiversity, increase the resilience of the fluid ecosystem and increase the conditions for the development of the fauna. In this sense, the first phase of renaturalization precedes the generation of lagoons in the lower margin of the river and the creation of a large space for visitable ambient education.

This didactic lagoon will be a great ambient place to have free thought for families, schools and university students. Different pedagogical itineraries will be created integrated into the fluctuating ecosystem to facilitate the observation and knowledge of the different habitats and species that exist in the river. Aguas arriba, the project reserves a space for the generation of habitats that can protect the intimacy of the species and that can be developed from the most natural form possible. The director of the project, Tomás Carrióndetailing that he has projected different lagoon spaces in autochthonous vegetation searches.

In this sense, the project of renaturalization of the river Besòs prevé también study the best form of erradicar del entorno fluvial la caña americana, which is an “exotic and invasive” plant species. In his place if a plant is planted (communal phragmites) and ‘aloc’ (Vitex agnus-castus). “We reproduce with human intervention that natural nature has a natural form,” Carrión said.

With this intervention, the populations of species, anphibians and reptiles are developed with fullness and are provided with a feeding source for peas and mammals that are in the zone. In this sense, one of the ambient objectives of the project is also consolidate the presence of nutrients in the final tram of the Besò river.

The director of the project explains that the vegetable and animal communities of the Mediterranean regions are able to absorb the impact of the climatic change to better shape the excessively transformed species. With this project Carrión details that will “recover the structure of what is in series a natural state the fluvial ecosystem de un río mediterráneo “.

In a second phase, the project will also include a jump to the margin of the river to “connect” the Besòs with the park of Can Zam and will be working on the transformation of the river tram that will take place in Montcada and Reixac.
