Samuel García is confident that Nuevo León will be the new Silicon Valley of Latin America

Monterrey, NL. The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda reported that one of the objectives of his government is for the entity to become a Silicon Valley from Latin America. In addition, in the 2022 Budget there is an item of 20 million pesos, to create a Regional Hub of connectivity.

“We have to bet on connectivity, on the orange revolution, on industry 4.0, on (consolidating) the triple helix: companies, government and universities, which by the way, we have the best ones,” said the state president in a message released in their social networks.

The governor showed his willingness for young people to have access to districts for digital entrepreneurship and automation, in Monterrey, Guadalupe and Apodaca.

García Sepúlveda mentioned that some of the large companies that were installed in California, in the United States, have been emigrating to the city of Austin, Texas, three hours from Nuevo León, which will be essential for the development of the state due to said proximity.

It is worth mentioning that the Silicon Valley It is known as “the mecca of technology”, and is located in the San Francisco Bay, California, from where companies such as Google, Apple and Facebook have emerged.

Michael S. Malone, writer and technology journalist, told the BBC that Silicon Valley “is not so easy to replicate”, because it is the oldest technological community, which emerged 75 years ago with Hewlett Packard, also because of its location, since it was located “where land was cheap and with a large city close”.

The third reason is because of the infrastructure, because there are few places that can offer a complete range of educational institutions ”, especially like Stanford, and Berkeley; the biggest reason “is the culture,” where you’re willing to take risks, Malone said.

The state of Nuevo León has been creating for many years an ecosystem based on the interaction and linkage of the public, private and academic sectors.

It has several academic institutions that have been recognized internationally, such as the Tecnológico de Monterrey, the University of Monterrey, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and the Regiomontana University.

The cluster of clusters bring great innovation to companies: Automotive, Aerospace, Agri-food, Appliances, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Interactive Media, Specialized Medical Services, the Information and Communication Technologies Cluster, Housing and Sustainable Urban Development. Also, there is a network of cluster linking.

Since the creation of the clusters New Lion has managed to have a more specialized human capital, through technical, university, and postgraduate careers, mainly focused on engineering, medicine, and industry 4.0.

The Research and Technological Innovation Park (PIIT), concentrates 35 public and private research centers, and four high-tech business incubators.
