Saint John Police File Second Degree Murder Charge in Death of 2-Year-Old Boy – New Brunswick | The Canadian News

A New Brunswick man faces a second-degree murder charge in the death of a child earlier this year.

In a statement, Saint John Police said Madison “Karrson” Bennett appeared via video link Tuesday to respond to the new second-degree murder charge in the case.

On September 18, 2021, police were called around 10:35 p.m. to an address in Uptown Saint John, where a child was reported not breathing.

“Emergency teams, including police, paramedics and firefighters, worked tirelessly in their attempts to administer life-saving measures,” the statement said.

“The boy was transferred to the local hospital and later airlifted to a children’s hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia; however, on September 19, 2021, the child died ”.

Bennett, 23, was arrested in connection with the boy’s death on Sept. 28.

He was placed in pretrial detention, where he will remain until the Queen’s Bench court sets a later hearing date.
