Its owner thus took the decision to relaunch the business, but on a different site. He recently reached an agreement with Promotion Saguenay to acquire land located on rue de la Transformation, in the La Baie industrial park.

“I want to turn the page and move forward,” he said in an interview with TVA Nouvelles, he who has experienced several disputes with his neighbors and the City in recent years.

He values his project between $2 and $4 million.

“I have a wicked good team and the next generation,” he admitted. “I was not able to tell these people that it was over. It was against my principles. We don’t want to lose our customers either, so what we need right now is a little time to set up the new plant.”

He plans to start construction this spring, when the architect and surveyor are already at work.

“We are not here to stretch the time, on the contrary, we are all very very eager to have the new facilities,” he said.

The sometimes very long delivery times before obtaining new equipment can however pose a problem.

He hopes to relaunch his operations in the new factory in 2023, but until then he must continue his activities on the company’s current site, located on St-Louis Road, near many residences.

“I have contracts to respect and we do tailor-made,” he explained. “I refer contracts right and left to partners. We do a little here within the limits of what we can do. It’s not that we want to be illegal or bad neighbors, but give me time to move. We just want to make a living.”

The neighborhood hopes that the company’s move will allow it to regain a quality of life. He has been complaining for years about the inconveniences caused by the operations of Moulures SMDT.

Residents of the sector met by TVA Nouvelles prefer to wait for the realization of the project before commenting.
