Saguenay: suspicious death, the police are investigating

Saguenay police are investigating the suspicious death of a 34-year-old woman that allegedly occurred over the weekend.

Few details are available at this time, while even the location where the victim was found is being kept secret.

“We should have developments later this week,” said Tanya Lapointe, spokesperson for the Saguenay Police Department.

The woman had been transported to the Chicoutimi hospital on Sunday morning when her condition was considered critical. His death was later confirmed.

Police questioned a person of interest in the case, but released him without charges.

It is impossible to know whether the victim’s body showed signs of violence or how long the woman could have been in a precarious situation. The police also remain silent on the link between the person questioned and the deceased woman.

The investigators would however have requisitioned images from surveillance cameras, either to verify the comings and goings near the place where the lady was found, or to validate elements of the interrogation of the person of interest.

For now, the Saguenay police are in charge of the investigation, but it could be transferred to the Sûreté du Québec, depending on the nature of future developments.
