Sader inaugurates the Mexican Pavilion at the most important agricultural fair in Asia


The Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos Arámbula, participated in the virtual inauguration of the Mexican Pavilion at Foodex Japan 2022, where he stated that in 2021, Mexico increased its agri-food and fishery exports to Japan by 7%, compared to a year ago, achieving an all-time high in sales value of $1.37 billion.

“Japan represents one of the key pieces in the diversification strategy of Mexican agri-food exports, in the current international context, so producers, businessmen and authorities are committed to maintaining and increasing their presence in this market,” he said.

He explained that in the market diversification plan, the Foodex fair is the gateway for food and beverage companies to the Japanese and East Asian markets and the Mexican Pavilion will offer a series of gastronomic events to strengthen sales of our fruits. , vegetables and emblematic drinks.

Among the 10 main foods and beverages that our country exports to the Japanese market, it is the first supplier in five of them: avocado, asparagus, kabocha squash, concentrated and frozen orange juice, and agave distillates. Villalobos Arámbula stressed that, in person, five companies and two producer associations exhibit their products in the national pavilion, where Asian buyers will be able to try mangoes, avocados, asparagus and lemons, complemented by spirits, such as tequila, mezcal, rum .

The undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Luz María de la Mora, said that thanks to the safety and high quality of its products, Mexico collaborates in an important way in the supply of the food processing industry in Japan and the distribution channel to hotels, restaurants and food services (HORECA).
