Russian airline Aeroflot suspends all its flights to Europe due to the closure of airspace

the airline Russian Aeroflot announced the suspension from Monday of all its flights to Europe, following the decision of the EU to close its airspace to planes from Russia.

“As a result of the restrictions concerning airspace, applied by the European authorities, Aeroflot suspends its flights to all European destinations from February 28, 2022 and until further notice,” the company said in a statement published on Sunday night.

The European Union (EU) announced on Sunday that it was going to close its airspace to Russian companies, in retaliation for the invasion of Ukrainea measure that was also adopted by several European countries that are not in the EU and Canada.

Faced with these announcements, Russian air traffic has to manage its flights avoiding a huge prohibited zone, which forces them to make large detours.

Russia It responded by prohibiting planes from European countries that had closed its airspace in recent days from flying over its territory.
