Russia is in favor of keeping open negotiations with Ukraine to end the conflict that began eight years ago and reach an agreement that includes the demilitarization of the country.
From Mexico, the Russian ambassador, Víctor Koronelli, reiterated that the final objective of President Vladimir Putin is not to have control and occupation of Ukraine since he only seeks the demilitarization and denazification of the nation led by President Volodimir Zelenki.
“The special military operation is aimed at demilitarizing Ukraine, that is, destroying its military potential so that the extermination of the population of Donbas will stop. We need to make sure that from now on the country cannot be used as a threat to Russia by NATO ( …) The second objective is the denazification of the country, which implies eradicating the Nazi-style groups responsible for most of the atrocities in Donbas, bringing them to trial and putting an end to their ideology of hate,” he declared at a press conference at the headquarters of the Russian embassy in our country.
He charged that the Ukrainian government is manipulated by the United States (EU) and that the US and European Union (EU) sanctions package follows the relentless attempts by Washington and its allies to change Russia’s course.
“Russia has shown that, with all the costs of sanctions, it can minimize the damage caused (…) the restrictions that are imposed on our country open up new opportunities for internal investment. The Russian Government is creating the most favorable conditions for entrepreneurs, eliminating unnecessary administrative barriers and creating mechanisms to support investment projects already launched. It is proposed to facilitate public procurement procedures as much as possible, reducing excessive requirements,” he listed.
He reported that the Ministry of Finance is also preparing proposals for capital amnesty. Such steps will make it possible to send more funds for the implementation of new projects in our country. “And import substitution should become the main direction of our activity. Companies participating in projects in this area will receive additional support,” he detailed.
Víktor Koronelli thanked the Mexican position of not joining the imposition of sanctions.
He ruled out that Russia wants a conflict with NATO and called for it to be a scenario to be avoided.
The diplomat assured that the Russian nuclear arsenal has not been used despite the fact that Ukraine has committed violations.
“According to the nuclear doctrine of the Russian Generation, the governing document in this area, my country reserves the right to use its atomic arsenal in response to aggression against Russia or
their allies,” he asserted.
Ties with Mexico
After Mexico recognized the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory, the diplomat assured that the bilateral relationship will not be affected, in addition to maintaining permanent contact with the Mexican Foreign Ministry and with legislators.
He also stressed that Mexico is an independent country with the full right to express its sovereign position in relation to different issues on the international agenda both within the framework of the General Assembly and the UN Security Council, being a non-permanent member. during this year.
“We always welcome with respect and take into consideration any position of our partners,” he said.
Naval Defense Attaché, Captain Alexey V. Derevyankin, thanked Mexico for not giving in to the Ukrainian request to send weapons.
For his part, Consul Andrey Y. Troyanovsky confirmed that before the air closure there are Russians stranded in our country, but they trust in alternative routes.
