Robbery: arrest of a man in his twenties in Saint-Léonard

A man in his twenties was arrested after a long police operation held Wednesday during the day in Montreal in the Saint-Léonard borough.

The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) launched a large police operation on Wednesday morning to arrest the suspect of a robbery on a person, committed on September 20 in the Pointe-aux-Trembles sector.

At around 1 p.m., the suspect, a 20-year-old man, was located in Saint-Léonard by the SPVM. The man rushed to a home on rue du Bon-Conseil, near rue de l’Aunis, and refused to leave, despite the efforts of the SPVM who tried to communicate with him. .

The housing building was surrounded, around ten adjacent housing units were evacuated for prevention and a large security perimeter was erected.

The SPVM called on the Tactical Intervention Group (GTI) to help it in this operation.

At around 5 p.m., the suspect came out on his own and was picked up by GTI police. The man was then taken to an investigation center where he will be met by investigators, confirmed agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM, shortly after the operation.

No one was injured during the operation.
