Rimouski-Neigette: PQ activists opt for Samuel Ouellet


Represented by QP since 1994, the riding of Rimouski-Neigette will be fiercely contested in the next provincial election, which will be held on October 3.

While Marc-André Plante was also seeking the nomination, Samuel Ouellet will be responsible for leading the PQ troops. At 27, the young father won an unequivocal victory at the nomination meeting.

Mr. Ouellet intends to put forward several priorities during the election campaign, in particular places in early childhood centers (CPE) and the improvement of school infrastructures. He also wants to talk about the economy, especially the major impact inflation could have on Quebecers.

In his opinion, the current situation will place a portion of the population in a dilemma position.

The PQ leader believes that the candidates of his political party are people of conviction and real people. He also praised the merits of the one who will defend the colors of his political party in Rimouski-Neigette.

By showing up in large numbers for this investiture, which was held at the Val Neigette Golf Club in Rimouski, the members of the Parti Québécois wanted to send a clear message: they want the riding to remain in the hands of the political party for another four years.

Three candidates so far

Two other parties have already confirmed their candidates in the riding of Rimouski-Neigette. Carol-Ann Kack will represent Québec solidaire while the Coalition avenir Québec will rely on the former mayor of Saint-Luce, Maïté Blanchette-Vézina.

Several Parti Québécois candidates have also recently been confirmed in Eastern Quebec.

Méganne Perry-Mélançon, who hopes to get a second term, has officially been in the running in Gaspé since last weekend.

The investiture meeting of the outgoing member of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Joël Arseneau, also took place the previous weekend.
