LaSalle police said they received a report about a young man, who is not a student, in the parking lot with a firearm.

Responding officers were told that there had been an argument between two groups of people in the parking lot. A student who was not involved reported it to the principal, stating that one of the people involved possibly had a weapon.

Police suggested that school officials place the school in a hold and security status pending further investigation.

Officers located the person who reportedly had a weapon and searched him. They did not find a weapon, police said.

Notices of violation were issued to two men. His parents were also notified of what happened.

“The hold and security status was activated as a precaution until investigators could determine what had happened,” police said. “The investigation of this fact revealed that there were no reports of assault or threats on this date and there was no firearm present or involved.”
