Puebla, Pue. Given the plans of developers to build 10,000 homes in the Historic Center over the next three years, the Puebla State Parking Association, considered that 4,000 parking spaces should be built for the future inhabitants of the area.
Ezequiel Oropeza Gutiérrez, president of the organization, commented that this amount of spaces is what is needed to reduce 50% of the deficit that exists of drawers in the downtown area.
He indicated that 50 of the 120 partners have an interest in investing, which is why around 100 million pesos are required to expand parking spaces, as the supply of vertical housing is specified.
He referred that the need for places for cars has been had especially on weekends, when the influx of tourists from the center and south of the country increases, because in the first square of the city parking on public roads has been restricted .
However, he said, now that the area will be repopulated, it is also necessary to have more parking spaces, because not in all cases the buildings will have enough spaces.
Oropeza Gutiérrez explained that entrepreneurs in their own premises have the capacity to increase from two to three levels when required, “but considering that it will be a need in the short and medium term.”
He said that the partner parking lots around the zócalo generate 3,500 boxes, which have not increased for seven years, despite the need and that the new vertical offer may represent a good opportunity to invest.
According to data from the municipality, there is a census of 176 establishments in this area, which offer approximately 9,234 spaces. Of these, 76 are susceptible to increase their capacity.

He stressed that this opportunity to expand their businesses will represent higher income for the sector and in turn generate three to four direct jobs, plus those in the construction stage.
He hoped that more businessmen from the sector would join, which would be beneficial for the city and, with this, the problem of flannellers would be solved, who on weekends charge visitors up to 10 pesos for parking on public roads.
