Renfe prepare new seats for Rodalies of Catalonia. As reported by the Generalitat, it is already has finished the renovation of the seats of a first train which will serve as a prototype to check the quality of the new material. From here, it is expected that the improvements will be implemented in the rest of the Catalan suburban park when the new model has passed all relevant evidence.
New Materials
One of the main differences that have been announced with respect to the previous model of seats is that those of the latest prototype are upholstered with recyclable leather. As indicated by the administration, the material that has been used is much more sustainable, since it will save thousands of tons of leather waste. In addition, the final product is plastic-free and uses 90% less water than traditional leather manufacturing.
With the new update, Renfe hopes that the improvements will “increase the comfort of its customers during travel”. It has also been reported that the new material will optimize cleaning tasks.
