Rebellion described it with tropical aromas and flavors of dragon fruit and mango with hints of citrus. The beer is a light purple hue that comes from the butterfly pea flower and the creaminess comes from the sweet lactose sugars.

A splash of lime or lemon can cause a chain reaction that turns beer from purple to pink.

The mission to create the beer began almost a year ago when Flo Mingo, also known as Terry Van Mackleberg, discovered that Rebellion could put edible sprinkles in beer.

“He immediately wondered out loud if it was possible to get the most fabulous beer ever brewed in Saskatchewan and use it for a good cause. Our brewers rose to the challenge and began working on a recipe, ”Rebellion said in the statement.

Lulu’s Lodge is a five-bedroom supportive transitional home for LGBTQ youth ages 16-21 facing homelessness.

“Too often when young people talk to their families, they no longer have a place to live. Lulu’s Lodge offers -. They are running at 95 percent capacity and there is a great need in our community, ”said Flo Mingo.
