I am a student at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel School (OLMC). I do not think many people actually realize how big of a risk pollution has become.

If we continue using so many things powered by gasoline or keep littering in the ocean, earth will continue to suffer.

Air pollution already causes many lung diseases for humans and animals, even increasing the number of deaths. Littering in the ocean annually costs up to one million marine animal lives.

If we just stop littering in the ocean we can help these marine animals survive. Other things we can all do is reduce the times you use a car or stop using a fireplace or wood stove. If we all work together these little things will help our environment.

Also with the high price of gas, people should consider buying an electric car which is much better for the environment.

We also need to address climate change. Air pollution is one of the main reasons for climate change. It is not a natural thing, but it is caused by human activities.

Think of the atmosphere as a big greenhouse to keep us safe. When the sun passes through, the ground absorbs most of it. However, the heat sometimes gets caught in some gases. That is where air pollution comes in. This is called the greenhouse effect.

If we continue using so much gas I fear earth will be uninhabitable.
