Quintana Roo had successful participation in Tianguis Turístico

Cancun, QR. The Quintana Roo delegation that attended the Tianguis Turístico in Mérida, Yucatán, (from November 16 to 19) successfully concluded its participation with more than 4,000 business appointments and with Cancun as the most requested destination during the event.

Darío Flota Ocampo, director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo (CPTQ), also explained that the Mexican Caribbean had an outstanding presence with 200 delegates from 42 companies of the Private Initiative, representatives of tourist destinations, the local Secretariat of Tourism (Sedetur ) and all this headed by Governor Carlos Joaquín González.

“This will allow us to reinforce our confidence that we are going to have a great season at the end of the year and at the beginning of the next. Some hotels even reported that they have closed their sales with a full house. We ended with joy and satisfaction of having had important meetings where we met with tour operators from Spain and the United States, which throughout the year had air occupations above 80%, ”he said.

Among the main achievements are the confirmation of the Cancun-Bogotá route with VivaAerobus from December 16, on a daily basis. In addition, the airline is looking for another route to Colombia in the coming months, and tour operators from Spain and the United States reported air occupations with more than 80 percent.

Flota Ocampo assured that from now on a hotel occupancy for the end of the year above 90% is foreseeable, since in addition familiarization trips have been made for wholesalers.

All this without counting that buyers from the United States were interested in sustainable tourism in the Mayan Zone, in the Maya Ka’an destination.

Cancun, the most requested

In addition, Cancun led with 28% of the preferences as the most requested destination by wholesale companies that attend to buy the hotel offer that all destinations nationwide expose, followed by the Riviera Maya with 18% and Mérida with 16 % in third place, with which three destinations in the area lead national and international preferences.

At this point, the federal secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, highlighted that the third place for Yucatán also coincides with the number that the entity occupies at the national level in the volume of investments in tourism as of October 2021, only by below Nayarit and Baja California.
