Querétaro seeks to avoid violations of CFE infrastructure

Querétaro, Qro. State and federal agencies seek to inhibit acts of vandalism in infrastructure of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), because these crimes would be related to the blackouts that have arisen in some areas of the state.

In this context, the director of the State Energy Agency, Mauricio Reyes Caracheo, pointed out that the blackouts that have occurred in the entity are linked to the theft of copper.

“(The blackouts are) due to vandalism, there has been a lot of vandalism in the substations. (…) They go to the substations to steal the cable, the copper. The last one was the one on boulevard las Américas. They did it in the Aerospace (Park) that is in the airport, they have not stopped being giving the blackouts for these reasons. There is a great affectation ”, he stated.

Therefore, representatives of the CFE, the State Energy Agency and the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of the entity held a meeting to generate strategies that inhibit damage to some of the substations of the CFE.

After the meeting, the SSC reported through a press release that this seeks to maintain conditions of tranquility for the benefit of users.

“In order to strengthen communication channels, generate new coordination mechanisms and propose proposals to address any situation that may violate any of the substations in charge of the parastatal and thus maintain tranquility for the benefit of users,” he says. the notice.

This problem ─explained the head of the agency─ represents high costs for the CFE, not only because of what theft represents, but also because of equipment damage; as well as the problems and costs that are generated by suspending the power supply.
