Querétaro registers a 26.2% increase in the reception of remittances


Queretaro, Qro. During the first quarter of 2022, the entity received 244.4 million dollars in income from remittances, an annual increase of 26.2%, compared to the 193.6 million dollars received a year ago, details Bank of Mexico records (Banxico).

The entity was placed as the seventh with the highest annual growth in the first quarter of the year, it was only below Chiapas which had an annual rise of 73.9%, Gentleman of 37.4%, Puebla of 31.5%, Quintana Roo of 30%, Yucatan of 27.4% and oaxaca of 27.1 percent.

The remittances that the state received in the first quarter is the fourth highest quarterly figure it has received since 2003, the list is led by the third quarter of 2021 when it received 287.4 million dollars, followed by the fourth quarter of 2021 with 276.9 million dollars, the second quarter of 2021 with 254.5 million dollars and the first quarter of this year.

However, revenue for January-March 2022 is the highest figure reported in a first quarter of any previous year, central bank records show.

Regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, as of the third quarter of 2020 the state exceeded the figure of 200 million dollars per quarter for remittances, previously the figure remained below that amount.

Meanwhile, in 2021 the entity received 1,012.6 million dollars in remittances, placing it in position 20 among the 32 entities.

For the first quarter of 2022, Queretaro it was placed in position 19 in the reception of remittances, contributing with 2% of the national collection.

During January-March, Jalisco it was the entity with the most income from remittances, with 1,218 million dollars; they follow:

  • Michoacan with 1,172.2 million dollars.
  • Guanajuato with 1,045.7 million dollars.
  • Mexico state with 774 million dollars.
  • Mexico City with 690.3 million dollars.
  • Warrior with 667.2 million dollars.
  • oaxaca with 630.4 million dollars.
  • Chiapas with 600.7 million dollars.
  • Puebla with 576.3 million dollars.
  • Veracruz with 485.8 million dollars.

In contrast, the 10 entities with lower collection of remittances were Campeche with 34 million dollars, Baja California Sur with 34.6 million, Tlaxcala with 73.2 million, Yucatan with 84.2 million, Quintana Roo with 84.9 million, Tabasco with 98.2 million, Colima with 105.4 million, Aguascalientes with 173 million, Nayarit with 188.3 million and sound with 208 million dollars.

At the national level, in the first quarter of the current year, 12,521.4 million dollars of remittances were received, which represented an annual increase of 17.9% in relation to the 10,615.4 million for the same period of 2021.
