Querétaro expands horizon of automotive training center

Querétaro, Qro. Querétaro forges a world-class national center for the training of technical personnel of vehicle dealerships. A project that initially supported only 45 dealerships of the automotive company Peugeot, will now expand its service capabilities.

For this purpose, the Stellantis group and the Technological University of Querétaro (UTEQ) -which houses the center- announced the joint investment of 8 million pesos for the Peugeot National Training Center (dedicated to the specialized profession of Peugeot’s after-sales service) renews itself and increases its operating capabilities.

The rector of the UTEQ, José Carlos Arredondo Velázquez, explained that with the signing of an agreement between both instances, the creation of the now called Center UTEQ-Stellantis is given rise, where it is expected to give support to 219 agencies (of the Peugeot brands, Chrysler, FIAT, RAM, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Dodge), training 6,570 technicians. The initiative will also benefit 2,500 university students.

Stellantis CEO, Bruno Cattori, explained that the joint investment will be used to renovate the training center to support Stellantis’ portfolio; the center will integrate teaching and student staff from UTEQ.

“It will have state-of-the-art technology and vehicles. Currently the industry requires the most and best technicians for a market that raises quality standards. It is a source of pride to participate in the renovation of the center and to reach more young people. Today the state is consolidated nationally and internationally as an automotive and aerospace pole, “he declared.

This initiative is preceded by June 2003 when the university signed a collaboration agreement for the creation of the Franco-Mexican Training Center for the specialized profession of Peugeot after-sales service, forming the Peugeot National Training Center, to provide technical training to staff. assigned to the concessionaires and workshops distributed in the country.

The announcement of the UTEQ-Stellantis Center occurred within the framework of the first edition of TechWeek By Brose, an event that establishes a dialogue about the automotive industry, through conferences and activities to disseminate industry trends and projections.

Brose endorses confidence

The German automaker Brose maintains growth plans in North America, planning to attract investments to produce electronic components, said the director of the Brose Querétaro plant, Manuel Guevara.

He contextualized that in April of this year, Volkswagen and Brose signed an alliance to develop and produce seat components, thereby increasing business projections and personnel requirements.

Against this background, the president of Brose North America, Will Uhlenbecker, commented that the changes experienced by the automotive industry offer the company growth opportunities, including in the North American region.

He specified that all vehicles that leave an assembly line are equipped with at least one product from the three commercial divisions (interior, exterior, or motors and electrical units).

North America, he said, is a strategic area of ​​expansion for the company, forecasting 37% growth in regional sales by 2025.

The German ambassador to Mexico, Peter Tempel, highlighted the relevance of Bajío, and Querétaro, for the German community; 200 companies with German capital reside in this entity.
