Queretaro companies affected by a shortage of supplies

Querétaro, Qro. The shortage of supplies, in the face of problems such as the global logistics crisis, has led some production centers to intersperse their staff for certain periods.

Faced with this situation, the Secretary of Labor, Liliana San Martín Castillo, stressed that officially the agency has not received notifications of technical stoppages in state-owned companies, however, they have received requests for advice.

The state agency has 10 records of legal assistance, but not of the beginning of the procedure to declare a technical strike, at least since the start of the current administration, on October 1.

This advice consists of providing accompaniment in the work centers to confirm that the rights of workers are not violated in the event of changes or restructuring.

“The technical strike has a particularity, it must be duly notified, the various exercises that are carried out do not fit into this figure. As such, I have not reported one since I have been in the secretariat (…) In this case of exercises (technical stoppages) –obviously because the turn of the company or the dynamics of the company varies and it has to do a restructuring inside of the working class – what we do is provide support so as not to violate the labor rights of workers. More as legal assistance, not as a start of the procedure, we have ten records ”he explained.

The lack of raw materials is impacting the state’s production centers. Given the shortage of components to complete their production cycles, they have chosen to intercalate their staff, confirmed the general secretary of the Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM) in the entity, José Cruz Araujo Ávila.

“There is no raw material that is entering from Europe, all this is damaging the production plant in Querétaro (…) What the company is doing now is that it gives you (as a worker) a week, if you have three shifts gives you a week off, so that you don’t run out of your income, you enter the following week and then the other (workers) leave so that you don’t lack your income ”, he stated.

Scheme

Since October, he specified, some companies have opted for this work scheme, in order to maintain their workforce; however, he said that the problem has begun to worsen.

“In October, the shortage of semiconductors and shortage of raw materials became more acute. The employer is doing the impossible not to run out of that workforce, “he reported.

In Querétaro, economic units of automotive manufacturing, the plastics industry and even the trade sector have reported impacts due to the global crisis of containers, which has led to higher prices of imported inputs, scraps in raw materials and an increase in the transportation costs. Particularly the automotive industry suffers from the deficit of semiconductors.
