Queen’s Varsity Training Suspended After COVID-19 Outbreak Was Declared

Queen’s University has announced that an outbreak has been declared among various college teams. In response, the university has suspended all university training until further notice.

Additionally, the university has introduced mandatory masking and improved security protocols while using Queen’s sports facilities at ARC.

According to the university, the outbreak is not related to a specific event or campus facilities.

“Everyone involved in college sports at Queen’s is fully vaccinated, however the college has suspended all college training until further notice. All student-athletes, coaches and training staff have been reminded to follow current public health guidelines, get regular screenings, and stay home if they feel symptomatic. “

The outbreak had been initially declared on Tuesday, December 7, and involves at least 9 cases.

“Protocols are in place to continue managing the ongoing pandemic, and the university is working closely with KFL & A Public Health to keep the Kingston campus and community safe,” Queen’s wrote in a statement.

There are currently 507 active cases in the KFL & A region, of which 107 are reported today.
