LONDON (AP) – Queen Elizabeth, who was instructed by her doctors to take two weeks off from her royal duties, was photographed Monday driving alone around her estate at Windsor Castle.
The photograph, which appeared on various British media websites, showed the 95-year-old monarch in a headscarf and sunglasses at the wheel of the car.
Last month, Elizabeth was forced to cancel some planned engagements and spent a night in the hospital for an unspecified, albeit unrelated to COVID-19, ailment, her first such night’s stay in years.

Buckingham Palace said his doctors had instructed him to rest and avoid official visits for at least two weeks. One of those engagements she was forced to withdraw from was a reception to mark the opening of the United Nations COP26 climate change summit, set to kick off on Monday.
The queen, who is known for her robust health, has yet held a series of virtual videolink hearings, in which she has appeared well and cheerful, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he had spoken to her last week and said he was “In very good shape”.
