Quebec tramway: Éric Duhaime attacks Éric Caire

The leader of the Conservative Party accuses the CAQ of not assuming its opposition to the tramway and of not being in a hurry to improve the lives of motorists with the construction of the Quebec-Lévis tunnel.

“Barely a few months ago, the CAQ was an ardent promoter of the Québec tramway. Today, because the election is approaching, and they know that this is a project that has no social acceptability in the Quebec region and the support of the population, all of a sudden the CAQ has big reservations and caveats on the tramway project,” mentioned the leader of the Conservative party, Éric Duhaime, when he presented his candidate Olivier Dumais in the riding of Beauce-Nord.

Mr. Duhaime took the opportunity to attack Minister Éric Caire and the Legault government, arguing that they were harming the lives of motorists.

“In terms of… wanting to pollute the lives of motorists… he [Éric Caire] does not seem to be in a hurry to improve it”, declared Éric Duhaime.

On Wednesday, Minister Cairo said, before retracting, that the mayor of Quebec Bruno Marchand was polluting the lives of drivers with his tramway project.

“Mr. Caire, if I were him, I would keep a small reserve,” said the leader of the PCQ. “He’s the one who promised us that if the third link wasn’t built before the next election, he was going to resign. His own government in which he is a minister and sits on the council of ministers has presented a budget where the word tunnel or third link does not appear. I don’t think he has a lesson to teach.”

“Our Ideas”

According to Éric Duhaime, the rise of his party in the polls also forces the Legault government to modify its electoral plan and stick to the ideas of the PCQ, mainly in the greater Quebec City region.

“It’s interesting to see the rise of the Conservative Party in the region. It is important to also see that the CAQ reacts very strongly and they have come to partly adopt our ideas, on private health care, this is an example, ”said Mr. Duhaime.

“But I don’t take the CAQ hook for a very simple reason, I am a former ADQ member. During the merger with the CAQ, Mr. Legault had promised us private health (…) Unfortunately, Mr. Legault betrayed us.

fake news

Éric Duhaime also reacted to Québec solidaire’s complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec (DGEQ), declaring that it was fake news. “There is no story. It’s a fake story. The real story is that Quebec solidaire is panicking,” said Éric Duhaime.

QS maintains that the hydrocarbon company Utica Resources transferred a poll from the firm Mainstreet Research to the Conservative Party led by Éric Duhaime several days before making it public.

QS believes that it would be illegal funding from a company. An act prohibited according to two articles of the Act respecting elections in Quebec which stipulate that only an elector can make a contribution and that those in money or services must be made to an authorized entity.

The leader of the Conservative Party indicates that at least two other parties received this survey the weekend before its dissemination in the public space. Information confirmed by Mario Lévesque, president of Utica Resources. The survey was transmitted to the formations of which some of the sympathizers showed themselves against the bill 21 which must put an end to the exploitation and the exploration of hydrocarbons.
