Quebec offers additional aid of $100,000 to Ukraine

The provincial government on Thursday announced an additional $100,000 in aid to Ukraine to send materials to local people.

Collected by the community, the material will be sent to the country in the coming days. Local partners will handle customs clearance and distribution.

“The Ukrainian community in Quebec quickly mobilized to help their loved ones, and Quebecers responded by contributing generously to the collection of material. I am happy that we can directly support the Ukrainian community in sending the humanitarian material collected here for Ukraine,” said the Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, Nadine Girault, in a press release.

This envelope is in addition to the measures announced previously, including initial assistance of $300,000, granted on 1er last March, divided equally between the emergency funds of the international cooperation organizations Médecins du Monde Canada and the Canadian Red Cross, Quebec division.

A second humanitarian aid of $700,000 was announced on March 16 as part of a call for projects open to international cooperation organizations in Quebec. The selected organizations will be announced shortly.
