Quebec is the Canadian city where it is the most pleasant to drive

Quebec ranks first among major Canadian cities where drivers are the happiest behind the wheel, according to a survey.

After surveying 2,000 Canadians among the ten most populous cities in the country, Kijiji Autos proclaimed Quebec City as the city with the happiest drivers.

More specifically, 88% of drivers in Quebec feel happy driving at least once a week and 72% describe the road conditions in the old capital as being exceptional, very good or good, according to this survey.

Respondents were asked a series of questions about road conditions, traffic levels, number of unsafe drivers, their mindset behind the wheel, and more.

This ranking of cities was created from driver responses. According to the results, the calmest people behind the wheel are located in Kitchener, Ontario, and the most concentrated are also found in this province, in Hamilton.

Listening to music, scenic views and a sense of freedom are among the top reasons Canadians enjoy driving.

Driving anxiety

In contrast, more than half (58%) of Winnipeg drivers admit to getting angry while driving at least once a week. Almost half (46%) of Canadians feel anxious at least once a week while driving. Dangerous driving, cuts and tailgating are cited as the main anxiety-provoking behaviors.

According to data from Kijiji Autos, the average Canadian spends 14 minutes and 15 seconds in traffic a day. Drivers in Toronto would spend the most time, at 19 minutes and eight seconds, while those in Edmonton would spend the least time, at 12 minutes.

As for them, the cities with the best road conditions are Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa-Gatineau. Conversely, Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton were identified as the worst.

In fact, 81% of Montrealers think that the roads in their city need to be improved. Metropolitan drivers are the ones who spend the most time on the road with an average of 40.94 minutes per trip.
