Qro industry anticipates complications in the first quarter of 2022

Querétaro, Qro. Industrial companies in the state, which continue to recover, closed 2021 still operating with levels below pre-pandemic production.

The first quarter of 2022 will still be a complex period, said Jorge Rivadeneyra Díaz, president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra) in Querétaro, stating that the local industry is ending a difficult year characterized by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The effects on supply chains in the world, the logistics crisis, the rising cost of raw materials and the shortage of semiconductors, are some of the complications that marked 2021 and that will still present havoc in 2022.

“It was a very difficult year, certainly marked by the pandemic and also by issues of erratic markets, very expensive raw materials, a shortage of semiconductors, high prices, inflation. In Querétaro we already had a vigorous recovery process, however, it has not been an easy year, we had a difficult year and we think that the first quarter is still going to be difficult, “said Rivadeneyra Díaz.

The partner firms end the year on average at 85% of the pre-pandemic production level. He stressed that a complete recovery has not been achieved due to the impact of global supply chains, the increased cost of supplies and other factors that have derived from the impact of the pandemic.

“Yes we have seen a process of frank recovery and the companies that are not at 100% are due to market issues, steel is through the roof, concrete through the roof, the shortage of semiconductors, there are high prices in commodities; But we have already improved a lot, so there is hope, particularly if we can control inflation and that the agent will finish recovering ”, he added.

Industrial companies, he added, end 2021 with indicators of economic and productive recovery, compared to the contraction that occurred in 2020, although it has been a recovery in a difficult environment.

Among the elements that concern the local industry, he commented, is the level of inflation with which 2021 closes.
