Puebla-Tlaxcala automotive cluster supports supplier scaling

Puebla, Pue. Five years after he joined the Automotive Cluster of the Central Zone (Clauz), made up of Puebla Y Tlaxcala and that currently has 59 partners between them volkswagen Y audi, the mapping was carried out to identify the companies that seek to climb to the supplier level, as well as attract more investments for specific links in that chain.

Mónica Doger Ramírez, general director of the organization, explained that one of the objectives was to detect companies with opportunities to innovate and support them in training courses to have a more qualified workforce, which responds to the plans to consolidate industry 4.0 in this sector, as well as achieving more certifications to expand the market.

He commented that the mapping included 80 suppliers, among which they seek to detect the strengths and weaknesses to create mechanisms that help their growth, starting some of improving distribution channels, among other needs.

He also indicated that the diagnosis allows buyers to have up-to-date information on the supply in the region in order to consume locally and thereby reduce imports of components.

“The cluster wants to contribute to companies having better technical-human development and being more competitive in value chains, betting on their scaling,” he stressed.

Doger Ramírez indicated that by being unionized, companies have lowered their training costs by up to 50% and they see this as consolidated purchases that are reflected in having more competitive personnel in the short term when there is a need for growth in operations.

He said that the medium-term objective is to have more suppliers in strategic processes for the state that contribute to reducing imports of components demanded by assemblers, which in the case of Puebla are Mexico Volkswagen Y Audi.

In the cluster of 59 partners, 33 are companies from Puebla and the rest from Tlaxcala, including Allgaier, Benteler, Brose, Concorde Group, EDAG, Frimo, Industrias Norm, Proquipusa, Rassini, TIM and Unicar Plastics. In addition, the governments of Puebla and Tlaxcala participate, as well as the Ibero-American University, the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla, the Bilingual, International and Sustainable Technological University, as well as the Canacintra.

Recovery

Despite the circumstances for covid-19 pandemichighlighted that the Volkswagen and Audi assemblers, as well as their supply chain, have been recovering production, because the international markets are also doing so and that is positive.

He also argued that, through DUAL training, a German model to generate personnel with technical studies and who are prepared within a company, results have been obtained in quality workforce.
