The provincial government’s pre-election budget promises millions of dollars in additional funding for several Southwestern Ontario hospitals.

In a media release late Friday afternoon, the Conservatives said Windsor Regional Hospital will receive $30.5 million, Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare will receive $4.7 million, and Erie Shores HealthCare will get $700,000.
Chatham-Kent Alliance is pegged for $5.6 million, while London Health Sciences Center has been promised about $38 million.
“We have a plan to build Ontario by investing in key infrastructure projects, more highways, and a historic number of new hospitals, like the one here in Wallaceburg,” Monte McNaughton, the minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, said in a media release that promised a new hospital for Wallaceburg. “Today’s announcement is another major step forward in our commitment to ensure our community has access to the quality healthcare they deserve now and for decades to come.”
The Conservative’s 2022 budget, which essentially serves as an election platform ahead of the June 2 election, includes the promise of more than $40 billion to build and improve hospitals and new beds over the next 10 years.
With the legislature now adjourned until after the election, the budget likely won’t pass unless the Conservatives win a majority.
