Prince Harry, Meghan expresses ‘concern’ over incorrect information about COVID-19 on Spotify

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have “commerce” about how Spotify has allowed and promoted the spread of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform.

Prince Harry and Meghan, who entered into an exclusive multi-year partnership with the service in December 2020, said on Sunday they were pushing Spotify to care more about the rhetoric spread on the airwaves.

“Since the inception of Archewell, we have been working to address the real-time global misinformation crisis. Hundreds of millions of people are affected every day by the serious damage of rampant misinformation and disinformation, “a representative for their foundation said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement never mentions Joe Rogan, but the timing is in line with the former UFC color commentator’s assertive approach to anti-wax conspiracies: In April 2021, Rogan told young, healthy people not to be vaccinated, with ‘ a quick rebuke from dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House’s chief medical adviser.

Since then, Rogan has spent much of his time online spreading misinformation about the safety and efficacy of vaccines, as well as mandates designed to keep people healthy.

A Spotify spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment from the Daily News Sunday.

While Harry and Meghan released just one episode – a special Christmas – as part of their Spotify deal, a number of other artists drew their own extensive catalogs, including Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Nils Lofgren and researcher Dr. Brené Brown, who has an exclusive presentation for two podcasts.

“I do this because Spotify spreads false information about vaccines – potentially causing death for those who believe the disinformation is being spread by them,” Young wrote.

In May 2020, Rogan signed an exclusive agreement with Spotify, valued at a reported $ 100 million, to bring his entire library and new episodes to the platform, along with an estimated 11 million listeners.
