President Putin calls for immediate negotiations with NATO

Moscow. The environment of the eastern part of Ukraine, on the border with Russia, has decomposed rapidly, this may be the reason for the urgent request made by Russian President Vladimir Putin in recent hours.

“Vladimir Putin stressed the need for the immediate launch of negotiations with the United States and NATO to define legal guarantees for the security of our country, with the aim of ruling out the future expansion of the Alliance to the east and the deployment of weapons systems that threaten Russia in Ukraine and other neighboring states, “the Kremlin said in a statement after a contact by the Russian president with his Finnish counterpart, Sauli Niinistö.

Finland is a traditional intermediary between Russia and its Western rivals.

The Russian president had already conveyed exactly the same message during a personal interview with the French head of state, Emmanuel Macron.

For Putin, such talks should make it possible “to exclude the future expansion of the Alliance to the East and the deployment of weapons systems that threaten Russia in Ukraine and other neighboring countries.”

Russia considers that an eventual accession of Ukraine to NATO represents a red line, however Western countries have refused to exclude any expansion of NATO.

Just yesterday, the Russian army announced that it had proceeded to “watch” a French frigate that entered the Black Sea.
