Police seek help identifying woman whose body was found in a bag in Leslieville


Homicide investigators in Toronto are seeking help identifying a woman whose dismembered body was discovered inside a plastic bag in Leslieville on Monday.

Officers from 55 Division were called to the area of Eastern Avenue and Berkshire Avenue at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

to police statement Tuesday said the dead woman’s body had “obvious signs of trauma … including some dismemberment.”

The victim is described as having light complexion and short dark shoulder-length hair, around 5 feet two inches tall and weighing 118 pounds.

She was wearing a red, long-sleeved Armani Exchange shirt, police said, adding they hope people who may have been in the area Monday morning can help the investigation.

Hoping to identify the woman, investigators released images of "distinct designs on her fingernails and toe nails" as well as photos of her shirt.

“Investigators are appealing to members of the public who were in the area of ​​Berkshire Avenue and Eastern Avenue between 10 am to 1:30 pm, who may have observed anyone pushing a foldable shopping cart filled with black waste bags to contact police immediately,” the statement said.

Police also appealed for any drivers with dashcams who may have been in the neighborhood at the time to get in touch.
