According to Chèvrefils, the suspect was located around 1 pm Wednesday and was seen entering an apartment building in Du Bon-Conseil near Carrer de l’Aunais.
Efforts were made to contact the man, but Chèvrefils said he was uncooperative.
Officers surrounded the building and a security perimeter was established, with the SWAT team called in to assist.
Chèvrefils said that around 10 nearby residences were evacuated as a preventive measure. No injuries were reported.
The man surrendered peacefully around 5 p.m. and was arrested.
Chèvrefils said he is being held for questioning.
