At about 2:20 am on July 17, 2020, officers responded to report of an assault at a rural home near 184 Street and 8A Avenue SW, where a social gathering was taking place.

Upon arrival, officers found Wael Osman, a 19-year-old Ontario resident, dead.

At the time, police confirmed the rural, luxury home was being used for short-term rentals.

Following an autopsy on July 22, 2020, the Edmonton medical examiner determined Osman’s death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.

Police have charged 20-year-old Lam Bithou, who turned himself in Tuesday, with one count of second-degree murder in relation to Osman’s death, the Edmonton Police Service said in a Wednesday news release.

Police are not seeking additional suspects.
