The Southern Georgian Bay OPP is seeking to identify a dangerous driver who disobeyed red lights, got into oncoming traffic and was involved in an accident with another vehicle Thursday morning.

At 8:10 a.m., an officer patrolling the area of ​​Highway 12 at Jones Road spotted a vehicle traveling erratically.

The officer followed the vehicle, which wound through several side streets, with its hazard lights and sirens activated, but the car did not stop, according to police.

Then the driver, who appeared to be alone, drove east on Highway 12 again, officers added.

The driver disobeyed two red lights and headed into oncoming traffic, leaving Midland and entering Tay Township.

Due to a large amount of traffic and public safety concerns, police interrupted the chase and searched the area in an attempt to find the vehicle.

Later, police discovered that the vehicle was involved in an accident with another car that resulted in property damage on Highway 12 and Triple Bay Road, but the driver continued to drive.

The vehicle is believed to have been last seen turning from Highway 12 onto Sturgeon Bay Road.

Police described the vehicle as a dark gray Chevrolet sedan being driven by a man. There is an emergency spare tire on the right front wheel and damage to the front and passenger side of the vehicle.
