Poblano hoteliers seek to create an entertainment cluster

Puebla, before the reopening of all economic activities, including massive events, the Poblana Association of Hotels and Motels seeks to create an entertainment cluster with show businessmen to bring more international events to Angelopolis, which will contribute to increase the occupancy of hotel rooms during the year and maintain an average of 80 percent.

Manuel Domínguez Gabián, president of the association with 302 hotels representing a total of 12,470 rooms in this city, explained that this cluster exists in Monterrey, which has managed to make the city a benchmark in the organization of events of all kinds and quality , to the degree that it is included in the world tours of artists and groups or for international competitions of different sports disciplines.

He indicated that they have had meetings with show promoters and they are interested in forming this cluster, but they require a minimum of 20 million pesos as an initial investment and, with it, buy one or two dates of a world-class artist.

He added that this cluster brings benefits for restaurateurs, who will be invited to participate as investors, “since there are some with plans to venture into new businesses and this represents an opportunity, because not only will there be more tourists who consume, but it will mean another source of income for them ”.

Enclosures

Domínguez Gabián highlighted that in Puebla There are four venues with good capacity and acoustics, the latter factor that is important for massive events.

The GNP auditorium, previously called Acropolis, with a capacity of 11,000 spectators, which was inaugurated in 2017; the Exhibition and Convention Center that has a capacity of 25,000 to 50,000 people, inaugurated in 2010; the Auditorium of the University Cultural Complex of the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP), with a capacity of 3,600 spectators, opened in 2010.

To these properties was added the Metropolitan Auditorium from Puebla in 2015, owned by the government, which was remodeled to expand its capacity from 3,000 to 5,000 seats.

“The spaces exist, it is only a matter of grouping ourselves as entrepreneurs and taking advantage of them to attract more tourism with shows, having as a priority the market in the south-southeast area of the country,” he deepened.

He recognized that this cluster, which will be completed until next year, also requires a promotional strategy so that neighboring states know that Angelopolis will have international events, which previously were only seen in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.

But now those who are from Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapas will not have the need to go to the capital of the country to attend these types of events, since they will be held in Puebla, in addition the cost will be 30% less when it comes to excursions, he explained.
