Plaintiff testifies against Jacob Hoggard at singer’s sexual assault trial

Jacob Hoggard is charged with inappropriate sexual interference with a minor and sexual assault causing injury against the same teenager and an adult.

The identity of the first woman, who is now 21 years old, is protected under a publication ban, as well as the municipality from which she comes.

From the outset, the plaintiff acknowledges that she had fallen in love with Jacob Hoggard and that she has been following the music group since she was 10 years old. I retained a crush on him in my teensshe says.

She says she has attended a dozen of his concerts and has fond memories of her first show in Kirkland Lake in 2013.

I was 12 years old, I went there with my parents, I was very enthusiastic, I warned all my comradesshe remembers, adding that she had even met the singer and that her parents had taken a photo of her in her company.

This first concert will also have such an effect on the teenager that she will begin to collect souvenirs such as show tickets and t-shirts signed with the effigy of the group.

The young woman explains that her parents agreed very early to take the telephone number of the accused to possibly see the group again at other concerts.

She explains that she had agreed to send him photos of herself in undress or naked. However, I was afraid that someone around him would discover them, despite his promise that it would not happen.she says.

To hear the complainant, Jacob Hoggard sent her many compliments, telling her that he loved her, that he wanted to have a child from her and that he wanted to travel and see the world in her company.

I felt there was a bit of manipulation on her partshe admits.

Their exchanges will nevertheless lead to first inappropriate contacts during a concert at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on April 29, 2016. She is now 15 years old.

She maintains that she was surprised, but that she was not afraid, because the accused had never acted in this way before and that he had asked her to always trust him.

The complainant specifies that she then got into the limo with her friends who had noticed the scene. They had all attributed this misbehavior to the consumption of alcohol.

Over time, however, the relationship becomes more and more personal until Jacob Hoggard sends her a video of himself masturbating in a bathroom cubicle at an unidentified stadium.

The hearing was adjourned at the end of the afternoon, so that the complainant has not yet told the court of the attack of which she says she was the victim five months later.

She will therefore resume her testimony on Friday before being cross-examined by the defense of the accused.
